Business for Sale Website USBX Acquired in Employee Buyout
The Online Business Exchange division of mergers and acquisitions firm USBX, Inc. has been acquired by Bizquest, LLC, a private California-based company headed by Dylan Garland, a former USBX Director who ran the Online division for USBX.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 11, 2003 --The division's core property is the U.S. Business Exchange website (www.usbx.com), a thriving online marketplace of business buyers and sellers, with currently more than 20,000 active listings of businesses for sale.
Concurrent with this announcement the company has launched today a re-branded version of the USBX website under its new Bizquest® brand, and at its new location: www.bizquest.com. The name "USBX" has been retained by USBX, Inc. and will be used in conjunction with that company's Investment Banking division.
Bizquest will focus exclusively on its mission to be the leading online resource for buyers and sellers of businesses valued under $10 million, and to facilitate the process in which these businesses are bought and sold.
"The Internet has completely transformed the lower end of the M&A marketplace, in much the same way that it has the residential and commercial real estate markets," said Mr. Garland. "There are business brokers who didn't even have an email address three years ago who today are doing 100% of their business online.
"Over the last three years we have built a vibrant online community of business buyers and sellers. We have over 20,000 active listings of businesses for sale, thousands of registered buyers, and active partnerships with leading business brokerage organizations such as the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and Sunbelt Business Brokers.
"We've added liquidity and efficiency to a marketplace that formerly had neither, and we've empowered all of the relevant parties - business owners, interested buyers, and the business brokerage community - to a degree that was not possible even a few years ago.
"Yet I believe that we've only begun to scratch the surface of this marketplace. There are over 20 million small businesses in the United States alone, and as many as 40% of them could be considered 'for sale' at any given time. So there is a huge untapped market out there for Bizquest, and it's that amazing potential that I'm most excited about. That's what inspired me to buy this business."
Background
During a successful three-year tenure with USBX, Mr. Garland oversaw the growth of the Business Exchange division from an initial startup to a thriving online community of buyers, sellers, and business brokers.
Yet despite the solid growth of the Business Exchange division, Mr. Garland grew frustrated as the company increasingly turned its focus towards its Investment Banking division, and away from its Online business.
Remaining focused on the core online business exchange model, Mr. Garland did what many frustrated managers only dream of doing: he bought the division from the company.
The New Bizquest
The new Bizquest website has built upon the success of the USBX website with the addition of several new features, such as a business broker directory, a franchise center, and community forums. These new features represent only the beginning in a number of enhancements that will be rolled out over the coming months:
"Our mission is to be the leading online resource for buyers and sellers of businesses. We want to help our customers reach their goals, and we'll do that by constantly bringing new information, resources, and services to them. By delivering value to our customers through a continually relevant website, Bizquest will set the industry standard for facilitating the buying or selling of a business online."
