SQLitePlus 2.8.7 Released

New version supports built-in 256-bit TwoFish encryption and ZLib compression.

(PRWEB) December 12, 2003 --EzTools Software is pleased to announce the release of SqlitePlus 2.8.7. SqlitePlus - the Database manager and COM DLL for the popular SQLite database engine - now supports built-in 256-bit TwoFish encryption and ZLib compression. Use of compression and encryption can be either automatic or manual. Meaning you can just set a column's auto-compression/encryption ON and it will be compressed/encrypted when writing, and decompressed/decrypted when reading. To "manually" compress and encrypt, methods are provided on the SqliteDb class. These are useful for encrypting/compressing existing data in tables for example.

You can query/join encrypted columns as long as its the whole column value (no using LIKE if encrypted). This is very useful for working with encrypted numeric ID columns.

This release also has automatic encoding/decoding of BLOB data for BLOB columns. As with compression/encryption, there are methods on the SqliteDb class for encoding/decoding data separately.

The 3 SqlitePlus components - Database Manager GUI, COM DLL, and Grid ActiveX control - are now sold separately so you can purchase only what you want to use. For those unfamiliar with SqlitePlus, the COM DLL is a "wrapper" for the Sqlite engine. The class objects are similar to Micsoft's ADO objects, providing extra services such as Stored Procedures (using the Windows scripting engines VBScript and JScript) and automatic conversion of intrinsic data types and more. The Database Manager GUI is much like Microsoft Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer. And the Grid ActiveX control is made to work with SqlitePlus Datasets automatically.
