Spoken Word Band EarCandy Hosts Events To Support Foundation for Chicago Youth

EarCandy, a gifted and expressive group of poets, dancers, artists, and musicians, announced today a series of events that will support their EarCandy Youth Foundation.

CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) December 12, 2003 --- EarCandy, a gifted and expressive group of poets, dancers, artists, and musicians, announced today a series of events that will support their EarCandy Youth Foundation (www.earcandyinc.com).

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday EarCandys spiritual leader, Miles, will host an open mic night: Live Grooves that Move" at the Southside Community Art Center, located at 3831 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago. Also at the center, every 3rd Saturday they present Its the Musicians Expo" an open mic showcase for musicians, singers and poets. Donations are $7, $5 for musicians. Show time 9pm until 1am.

The EarCandy Youth Foundation is an outlet for children to come out with their parents, guardians and teachers, and express themselves freely. EarCandy recognizes the continuing need for positive activities and role models for children. As a result, the mission of the foundation is to preserve the existence of the arts in the Chicago community for the children. It has been a blessing for EarCandy to see the progression of the youth through poetry.

Beginning Saturday January 17th, 2004, EarCandy will host Youth Poetry" every month at the South Side Community Art Center, 3831 S. Michigan Avenue, 5pm -- 7pm. Admission will be free. The youth poetry show will bring together positive people, expressing positive thoughts, for the positive development of the next generation of leaders.

EarCandys core members comprise of: Miles, who began to host art shows of his works, at which his spoken word would be the fire that filled the room. As life imitated art, Miles had finally become poetry and poetry would become him. Genesis, one of the most talented and visually engaging spoken word artists to emerge on the scene, has been reciting poetry since 1995 and feels his greatest piece as yet to be written; and Passion, a founding director of the EarCandy Youth Foundation, who truly epitomizes her name. In her role as director, she has developed the literacy program, Writing Instead of Fighting."

The core members are supported by a diverse group of talented individuals working behind the scenes to further EarCandys mission. EarCandy is truly a powerful force against negativity. Whos coming? The poets are coming!
