Human Rights congress for Bangladesh Minorities-Dallas Forth Worth (HRCBM-DFW) urged the Government of Bangladesh to immediately stop violence against the most peace-loving and helpless religious, ethnic and tribal minority communities of Bangladesh. The members also urged the international communities including the UN, governments of the civilized world and human rights organizations to help stop the silent genocide unleashed by the fundamentalist dark forces supported by the ruling coalition parties and to save the minorities from total eradication from their motherland. The minorities must be protected.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 12, 2003 --The 3rd Annual Meeting of Human Rights congress for Bangladesh Minorities-Dallas Forth Worth (HRCBM-DFW) was held at La Quinta Hotel, Irving, Texas, on November 23, 2003, and a 27 member new Board of Directors and a 9 member Executive Committee for 2004-2005 were elected. The meeting started with one-minute silence to mourn the death of 11 members of the same Hindu minority family who were burnt alive on November 19, 2003, at Sadhanpur village, Banshkhali Upazila (Sub-district), Chittagong, Bangladesh.

HRCBM-DFW started its journey in October 2001 with the mission to (i) create worldwide awareness against human rights violations, (ii) help stop and prevent human rights abuses committed against Bangladesh minorities, (iii) promote human rights in Bangladesh and (iv) provide rehabilitation, educational, medical and other humanitarian assistance to the distressed Bangladesh minorities and others.

The members expressed their utter anguish and grave concern at the continuation of barbaric brutality and killing, gang-rape, abduction, torture, amputation, plucking of eyes, land grabbing, eviction, forced conversion to Islam, attack on temples and churches, imposition of Ziziya (infidel protection) tax, etc., against the minorities in Bangladesh, which started at the time of the General Election of October 1, 2001. Rarely, if any of these criminals have been apprehended and verdict announced by the court of justice; the verdicts have never been implemented, even in the face of national uproar for justice and prosecution of the criminals. The minorities are still crying for justice and punishment of the criminals.

The outgoing committee congratulated the new. The new committee thanked the outgoing committee members for their sacrifice and self-less service to the humanity. A number of agendas were discussed and resolutions to fight for freedom, justice and dignity were taken at the meeting. The meeting ended with a call to the government of Bangladesh to immediately stop violence against the most peace-loving and helpless religious, ethnic and tribal minority communities of Bangladesh, to bring the perpetrators to justice and to give them exemplary punishments, and to rehabilitate the affected minority families with full compensations all over the country. The members urged the international communities including the UN, governments of the civilized world and human rights organizations to help stop the silent genocide unleashed by the fundamentalist dark forces supported by the ruling coalition parties and to save the minorities from total eradication from their motherland. The minorities must be protected.
