Nationwide authentication in the Netherlands based on A-Select
Alfa & Ariss is building a solution for nationwide authentication in the Netherlands based on A-Select. The NAV (Nationale Authenticatie Voorziening), set up by several important governmental bodies (de Belastingdienst, de Sociale Verzekeringsbank, het College voor Zorgverzekeringen, de Informatie Beheer Groep, de Uitvoeringsinstantie voor Werknemers Verzekeringen en de Centrale organisatie voor Werk en Inkomen), aims to offer a centralized authentication to governmental institutions through the Internet in order to prevent citizens of having a digital bunch of keys to contact their authorities.
(PRWEB) December 14, 2003 --There is a great demand for such a solution from governmental institutions since more and more want to offer their services to citizens via the Internet. For a quick implementation of NAV's aim Alfa & Ariss will use several important system components of its authentication system A-Select. A-Select is already widely being used in Higher Education in the Netherlands and other market segments.
The A-Select technology meets several important requirements that were set: a high level of security, centralized administration, standard webtechnology and ease of use for citizens. Besides, with A-Select we lay the foundation for future scalability of the NAV by, among other things, enabling a migration to stronger authentication methods, says Ali Odaci, Managing Director of Alfa & Ariss.
On 1 January 2004 Alfa & Ariss will deliver up the first version of the NAV. On this version a limited number of webservices will be connected. In the course of 2004 more governmental services will join and with more webservices more functionality will be added to the NAV.
