HOW TO BEAT DEPRESSION DURING THE HOLIDAYS

1. Spend time with family, relatives and friends.
Dont get so overwhelmed that you forget whats most important.

2. Get out of the house.
Force yourself to turn off the TV and explore somewhere youve never been before.

3. Volunteer.
You can help yourself by helping others, especially if youre feeling lonely or missing someone special. Many places would love your help, whether it be a daycare center, a nursing home, a battered womans shelter, or a soup kitchen.

4. If youre not a big people lover, volunteer at the SPCA or the zoo!

5. Recycle!
Not only is it good to help others, but its also great to help the earth. Take a walk along the beach and clean it while youre enjoying the surroundings.

6. Share your talent.
Many could benefit from your help, whether youre a plumber, a handyman, a mechanic, a teacher, a computer whiz, or just a good listener. Even if you dont have a specific skill, your willingness to reach out can help change lives.

7. Reconnect with someone special from your past.
In appreciating all that we have, it is healthy to remember the good times and reach out to someone who has made a difference in our life.

8. Pray and/or Meditate.
Embrace prayers healing qualities and savor the peacefulness it can bring.

9. Take inventory.
Acknowledge any small ways that youve helped make this world a better place.

10. Remember the purpose of the holiday.
Regardless of your beliefs, now is a good time to rejoice & celebrate the miracle of life.
