Sleep Talk With Your Physician

A recent poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation found that "more than two-thirds (69%) of primary care physicians believe they should raise issues about sleep with their patients, however, nearly all (96%) say the discussion is more likely to occur if the patient initiates it.

(PRWEB) December 14, 2003 --40 MILLION Americans are chronically (or all the time)ill with various sleep disorders. Yet 96% of primary care physicians do not initiate any sleep discussion with their patients, according to a National Sleep Foundation survey.
Millions are overweight, suffer depression, struggle with learning disabilities. Millions are treated with Prozac, Ritalin, diet supplements. Excessive fatique is the source of thousands of work and auto accidents. And in so many cases the cause is poor sleep. Granted, sleep disorders are a new field of medicine. The symptoms of sleep disorders mimic the above mentioned maladies and, put in a nutshell, make the person with an undiagnosed sleep disorder live a nightmare. As a sleep technologist, I see first hand the simple diagnostic technique for sleep disorders. I also see the immediate improvement to the quality of life when a persons sleep disorder is corrected. GET A SLEEP STUDY. It can immediately change your life.
