Ocean Fairies a remarkable children's Tale
This is an excellent children's story. The illustrations are breathtaking and compliment the story theme perfectly. Powerfully written, this book will provide hours of reading fun for the little ones.
(PRWEB) December 15, 2003 --Ocean Fairies is a most delightful and lively tale from the pen of Wendy Maree Peterson. The textures and colours of the pictures by Ardy Scott are magnificent. Young readers will find the layout of the text easy to read. It is well spaced out and pleasing on the eye.
Jesse, the heroine of the story, lives near the ocean. She spends nearly all of her spare time in the company of her friends, the fairy penguins. They have their nests hidden in the foreshore near Jesses home.
One day Roger, the head penguin, tells Jesse of a sunken treasure ship. He suggests she gets in her floaties and let the penguins take her to the wreck site. She can then use her goggles to look down on the old ship.
Jesse reluctantly agrees to Rogers idea, as she is not a strong swimmer. She decides to not use her floaties, thinking it to be much safer to use the family inflatable dinghy. When she arrives at the wreck site, she is excited to see that the wreck is an old galleon. Roger tells her Merfolk live in the wreck and cover themselves in jewels.
Two of the penguins, Coral and Vegemite, dive down to the wreck. Coral brings back a gold coin, Vegemite a sharp dagger. The dagger tears the inflatable dinghy and it begins to sink.
Terrified of the water Jesse does her best to keep her head above the water. Roger and a seal called Rainbow, do their best to keep her afloat. Eventually a handsome Selkie (part fish, part man) comes to Jesses rescue.
He is one of the Merfolk and a very powerful one. Jesse immediately feels a strong bond with him that she finds hard to explain. All the penguins agree that she is enchanted with the Selkie.
So begins an adventure that will take Jesse to parts of the ocean never before seen by humans. The consequences of the adventure will be far reaching. Jesse will never be as she was before she met the Selkie. What happens to her will captivate the reader, as they immerge themselves in the stories magic.
This book is a good example of the quality now achieved by electronic books. It will give children hours of reading joy. I highly recommend this book to all young readers.
