Mr. Burns is originally from Ireland where he obtained the first of his two law degrees. Mr. Burns received his law degree in the United States from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California and was graduate speaker for his graduating class. He currently serves on the Board of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association and his most recent trial resulted in a verdict of $1.4 million dollars in a medical malpractice action against the County of Los Angeles. Mr. Burns was also co-counsel on a personal injury case, which resulted in the largest verdict in Southern California involving the loss of a spleen. Other significant verdicts and settlements include a $400,000 settlement for a young girl who was hit by a bat at a company picnic, a $225,000 settlement for a woman who slipped and fell on a grape in a grocery store and a $150,000 verdict for a man who partially severed two fingers on an unguarded table saw.
