Seven Ways to Savor the Season

This is a list of seven ways to resist the rush and crush of the holiday season.

(PRWEB) December 17, 2003 --Instead of enjoying the holiday season, we sabotage it with hyper busyness," says Kirk Byron Jones, author of Addicted to Hurry: Spiritual Strategies for Slowing Down (Judson Press, 2003). Jones offers seven tips for savoring the holidays:

1. Begin at a place of peace. Start your day with inner peacemaking practices, such as prayer, meditation, inspirational reading, and journaling.

2. Don't overdose on overcommitment. Share shopping and party planning with family, friends, and coworkers.

3. Limit multitasking. When we perform multiple tasks at the same time we run the risk of not doing either of them very well.

4. Make margins in your day. Schedule times for playing, reflecting, and resting.

5. Resist rushing. Life doesn't have to be fast to be fun. Slow down when you feel yourself moving faster than necessary. To gauge your living speed, take The Hurry Test at www.savoringpace.com.

6. Savor moments in your day. It is possible to miss the present joy in pursuit of the next thrill.

7. Share quality time with loved ones. Maybe the best gift you can give someone this year is more of you.
