Avondale, AZ (PRWEB) December 19, 2003 -- Nationally recognized storyteller and spoken word performer, Sean Buvala, has released his latest Compact disk, (CD) especially for teenage boys entitled; "Calling Out a Rising Sun: Stories for Teenage Guys." Parents, school teachers, counselors and youth leaders who work with adolescent boys will find this a tool to inspire conversation in the boys in their homes and programs. Choosing stories collected from nearly twenty years of youth worker and storytelling experience, Sean has produced a powerful and thought-provoking collection specifically targeted to the personal issues of teenage boys. With a mix of tales from real life and legend, this is a compelling, edgy CD for boys aged 13-19. The CD is available for $13.99 and can be purchased from a several sources on the Internet such as www.callingoutarisingsun.com, Amazon.com, www.1800buymycd.com or by calling 1-800-BuyMyCD.
A free Leader's Guide will be available at the www.callingoutarisingsun.com website after January 10, 2004. The Leader's Guide will be useful for parents, teachers and youth workers.
Asked about the use of storytelling with boys who might think that they are "too old" for a CD like this, Sean says, "These tales are absolutely not bed time stories or fairy tales for small children. Storytelling as a communication tool is almost completely overlooked for teenage boys in modern times. However in numerous civilizations past and current, sharing stories is a part of the rite of passage for young men. This process of teaching 'men's business', as it's referred to by the Aboriginal tribes of Australia, still remains vital to teenagers today. Boys will instinctively seek out one source or another, good or bad, to help them learn to be men. As adults, we need to take responsibility for mentoring our young guys. I hope this CD is one more way to for adults to mentor boys into 'men's business'."
The content of "Calling Out a Rising Sun" is mature and blunt without being explicit, to-the-point and of interest to teens without any "candy coating" on the CD. For example, Sean starts off the CD with his own story about a time when he could have "done better" as he tells "Drunk Mr. Daniels." Ancient fables are incorporated with tales such as "Iron John" Also included are original stories such ast "Gray's Hat." The stories are presented without moralizing so that the listener will draw his own conclusions.
Mr. Buvala has spent 19 years in the field of youth and family services, in addition to being the director of www.Storyteller.net. He is available for print, radio and television interviews.
