Invitation to Media Press Conference with Venerable Sheng-yen

Venerable Sheng-yen, the international spiritual figure in Chan (Zen) Buddhism will make a rare visit to Vancouver, December 19-21, 2003. Events will include a public talk True Peace Lies in a Peaceful Mind"at Canada Place and a press conference at Plaza 500 Hotel.

(PRWEB) December 20, 2003 --Persistently spreading messages of Buddhists practices of compassion and continuing his campaign to promote spiritual environment throughout the world, Venerable Sheng-yen will speak on Buddhists practices that encourage a peaceful mind, and how to embrace uncertainty during difficult times.

Venerable Sheng-yen, founder of the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association, co-chair of the World Council of Religious Leaders, writer of more than 100 books and the lineage holder of Chan (Zen Buddhism), is one of the foremost Buddhist clerics in modern time. Born near Shanghai in 1931, he became a monk at age 13, received a Masters degree and a Doctorate in Buddhist literature in Japan and advocates the protection of the spiritual environment by using the methods of Chan practice. Venerable Sheng-yen will share his insights on the process of dealing with fear and uncertainty through compassion as a way of treasuring fully ones time in this world.

We sincerely invite you to attend this event. Following the talk, Venerable Sheng-yen would be happy to answer any questions which you might have.
