GizmoLab Announces Design Intuition(R) Software for Mac OSX

Professional Woodworker Creates Powerful Cabinetry and Woodworking Design Tools for Craftsmen and Independent Woodworking Professionals

BOULDER CREEK, CA (PRWEB) December 24, 2003 --GizmoLab today announced the 1.0 release of its Design Intuition(R) computer-aided design software for Apple Macintosh OSX. Design Intuition(R) makes it possible for the average craftsperson or independent woodworker to produce construction-quality blueprints in minutes.

"I tried three or four Computer-Aided Design and Cabinetry Design programs that friends, who were architects and industrial designers, recommended. I didn't like what I found," said Jonathan Sand, CEO and Chief Software Architect for GizmoLab. "I immediately noticed high prices ($1000 to $4000) and ugly learning curves. How could an individual woodworker afford that?" GizmoLab's Design Intuition(R) retails for $129.97, but is available through January 10, 2004 for $99.97.

Designed for Simplicity and Immediacy

"Design Intuition(R) was created by a professional woodworker for professional woodworkers and craftspeople," said Michael Knowles, Vice-President of Corporate Communications at GizmoLab. "When I saw Jonathan create construction blueprints for a set of kitchen cabinets in three minutes, I knew he had a winner. I've never seen another tool do that."

Fast Design Made Possible with Smart Objects

To simplify and speed up project creation, Design Intuition(R) is equipped with a library of pre-made, fully customizable designs, called Smart Objects. The library contains cabinet carcasses, drawers, a wide variety of cabinets, standard lumber sizes and a variety of other items in common use in woodworking. Users drag Smart Objects from the library and then stretch them to size for the project. Smart Objects take the tedium out of design.

GizmoLab adds to the Smart Objects library monthly, often based upon customer requests.

3D Inside and Out

A typical set of blueprints contains front, side and top views. Most CAD programs require that you draw each separately. In Design Intuition(R), draw it once, and you've drawn it in all views. Make an adjustment in one view, and it's made in all views. "It's a computer. It should do a lot of the work for you," Sand said. Because Design

Intuition(R) uses OpenGL software, users can also view their designs in 3D to see what the finished product will look like.
