Most costume designers in film and theatre in India are known only by their peers or close associates. Most new designers lack awareness about the challenges in costume design. Internationally, costume designers for film and theatre is considered as an independent discipline with more domain knowledge. The conference brought together the leading national and international designers. It provided a platform for discussion of ideas and exchange of knowledge.
Renowned Oscar-nominee Hollywood custom designer, author and President of Costume Designers Guild (USA), Dr. Deborah Nadoolman Landis said: Dressing actors to suit character, place and period is more crucial to the filmmaking process than many realize. Deborah is an international icon in costume designing and has written five most popular books on costume designing.
