San Fernando Valley native to take over January 1 as the 2004 President of the California Junior Chamber (Jaycees), one of Californias oldest and largest business networking and community service organizations for young adults.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 28, 2003 --A San Fernando Valley native is set to take over January 1, 2004 as the 76th President of the California Junior Chamber (Jaycees), one of Californias oldest and largest business networking and community service organizations for young adults. Michael Higby, 39, was elected in August of this year to serve during the 2004 term, following the administration of Sonia Rodriguez of East Los Angeles.

Mr. Higby, a Sherman Oaks resident and member of the Universal City-North Hollywood Jaycees seeks to increase the organizations members opportunities for business networking and governmental involvement. In addition to networking and political activity, the organization will continue to promote its traditional community service programs such as back to school clothes shopping for low income children, holiday toy and food drives, disaster relief and work with senior citizens. As well, the Jaycees continue to offer their members individual development programs such as classroom training, competition in public speaking and cultural activities.

Mr. Higby was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He has an extensive background in community service having volunteered with the Universal City-North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Targeted Neighborhood Initiative and is a co-founder of the North Hollywood Community Forum Economic Development Corporation. Professionally he works as the Corporate Communications Director for Investors Management Trust, a Sherman Oaks based multi-family real estate investment and management firm.

The California Junior Chamber is an affiliate of Junior Chamber International, an eighty-year-old organization of young adults ages 21-39 who offer their members opportunities for personal and business growth through individual development, leadership training and community involvement.
