(PRWEB) December 28, 2003 --Catalyst Ranch will kick off the New Year and its Sunday brunch series, Scrambled Arts", a compilation of special events that center on its dedication to art and creativity, with Come Out and Play" featuring Childs Play Touring Theatre, on January 18, 2004 at 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM. Childs Play is a not-for-profit theatrical troupe that produces plays written by children with a rip-roaring group of dedicated, talented actors.

An event specifically for parents and their children, the Come out and play" event offers a facilitated opportunity to play and learn with your whole family. There will be interactive games and challenges to stimulate family fun and participation. The experience will begin with Lets Eat" - food and drink. Next, Lets Listen" is a welcome/introduction of Childs Play actors and Catalyst Ranch staff, followed by Childs Play Sampler", a performance of various Childs Play pieces.

After a short break, Lets Play" will break everyone into groups to participate in a warm-up exercise with several improv story games which are excellent skill builders that develop spontaneity, group operation, expressive movement, narrative skills and understanding structure.
After the group is warmed up, during Lets Write", Childs Play will work with everyone to brainstorm on situations, characters and plotlines to come up with an idea for a production. This will be followed by Lets Act" - the story is then performed with audience participation.
Following the event, a printout of the play will be sent to attending children and their families. Story writing sheets will be given as guidelines for writing their own original plays at home. These plays can then be submitted to Childs Play for a possible performance in April.

Catalyst Ranch (http://www.catalystranch.com), one of Chicagos most unusual and imaginative conference centers, offers original meeting and event space for rent. The Ranch is the antidote to typical bland corporate or hotel meetings rooms. Its large, vibrant rooms offer 11-foot ceilings, abundant sunlight, unconventional furniture, and a jamboree of toys and art. The purpose of the Catalyst Ranch is to provide a stimulating and enjoyable atmosphere so that meetings are more productive and creative.

Through special Catalyst Ranch events such as Scrambled Arts" and Juice-on-the-Loose", a series Co-Sponsored by CEF, that specifically focuses on creativity, Catalyst Ranch invites the community to participate and learn more about the Ranch, the importance of providing individuals with a creative environment in which to work, and how it exponentially increases the outcome of the meeting or event, so that participants share this knowledge with their employers and/or employees, as well as organizations to which they belong.

Child's Play Touring Theatre is a professional, non-profit theater exclusively dedicated to performing stories and poems written by young people for the past 21 years. By combining children's imagination with the artistry of professional actors and musicians, Child's Play has created one of the most innovative children's theaters in the country. According to the Chicago Tribune, "Child's Play's enthusiasm for their work is so infectious it's hard to tell who is having more fun - the actors or the children."
