Evanstock". The first Evanstock Festival is targeted for August of 2004. The Friends of Evanstock Steering Committee has been meeting and utilizing the Internet to manage, promote and coordinate the event.
(PRWEB) December 29, 2003 --It all started on the Message Board of classmates.com in March of 2002! John Nance, an Evanston Township High School graduate (1971) has been a part of the music scene in Evanston since 1964. John began a message on the Evanston Township High School message board entitled Evanston: Music Capital of the 70s. John's initial goal was a stroll down memory lane with present and former Evanston Residents and Evanston High School Grads to recall memories of places lon gone from Foster Center to the Plant Room; Amazin Grace (Northwestern University) to the Whole Earth Coffee Shop and more; requesting readers to add names and memories of Evanston based talent to the list of eighty-five that he had started. Its now 2004 and amazingly the message board lives on with the names of over 340 hundred Evanston Based performers and musicians added to the original list. From this list the concept of an Evanston Music Festival was born. Another very clever ETHS grad coined the phrase, Evanstock". The first Evanstock Festival is targeted for August of 2004. The Friends of Evanstock Steering Committee has been meeting and utilizing the Internet to manage, promote and coordinate the event. The Evanstock Web Site is informative and entertaining featuring news, profiles, history, information, message boards, chat rooms and a photo gallery all related to the history of modern music of talent related to Evanston, Illinois. A "grass roots" effort the Evanstock Web Site attracts over 3,000 visitors per month serves as catalyst and communications source for what has now become the Evanstock Global Community and is experiencing a visitation growth rate that exceeds 35% per month.
