The Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum To Change Name to International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum
New Name Reflects Global Positioning December 19, 2003 The Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum announced October 28, 2003 that it will change its name to the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum. The new name will take effect immediately and reflects the organization?s new global positioning.
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) December 29, 2003 --Todays announcement reflects the truly global nature of gospel music and entertainment, said David Gough, the founder of the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum. Our members made the unanimous decision to expand internationally and change our name at our 2003 Induction ceremony, where we celebrated the work of artists, entertainers and industry leaders who have demonstrated twenty five years or more of service to the world of gospel music and entertainment.
Gough continued, Moving forward, we will begin to induct members from around the globe, from Africa to Japan and Canada to the Caribbean. In addition, we will begin to hold international meetings and events to celebrate the progression of gospel music and entertainment around the world.
The International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum will continue to be headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, where plans are underway to build a new facility in downtown Detroit.
International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum Held its 7th Annual Induction Ceremony: On October 25, 2003 the 7th Annual Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum's Induction Ceremony was held at the Detroit Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center Downtown Detroit. The Event was hosted by Dr. Bobby Jones, one of the predominate figures in Gospel music and a 1998 Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum inductee.
This year's induction ceremony once again demonstrated the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum's commitment to preserving and celebrating the work of the world's legendary Gospel music artists and entertainers, said David Gough, founder, The International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum. We would like to thank Dr. Bobby Jones for hosting this year?s event as well as everyone in the gospel community for their ongoing support of the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum.
Among the distinguished inductees this year were Shirley Ables & The Joy Gospel Singers, The Consolers, Jimmy Dowell, Dr. Dorothy Grant, The Highway QC's, Dottie Peoples, Dr. Leonard Scott, The Swan Silvertones, William (Bill) White and Vickie Winans.
The International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum also honored Ford Motor Company with the Phyllis Siders Award of Merit, which recognizes those in the corporate, civic and ecumenical community for their support and furtherance of gospel music and entertainment.
