Personal Trainer Uses Video Games to Get Youth in Shape

Authorities have blamed TV and video games as one of the major causes of the decline in physical activity among our youth. Countless hours in front of the TV, video games, and computer virtually guarantees a pattern of inactivity that causes weight gain. The problem is that the habits they're forming now, last a lifetime.

San Marcos, CA (PRWEB) December 30, 2003 -- Numerous authorities have blamed TV and video games as one of the major causes of the decline in physical activity among our youth. Countless hours in front of the TV, video games, and computer virtually guarantees a pattern of inactivity that causes weight gain. The problem is that the habits they're forming now, last a lifetime.

What is a concerned parent to do?

One option is to call Clark Bartram, an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer specializing in working with young clients, who uses Sony playstations to get kids in shape!

"Kids between 8 and 14 don't want to be thrown into what I call the 'stinky diaper pit', littered with small children while their parents are working out, says Clark Bartram, proud father of two and owner of International Fitness. "That's why I treat them the way they want to be treated, so we invested in lifecycles attached to Sony playstations. The only way they can keep playing is if they keep pedaling, making it fun for them to exercise."

Clark is the owner of a 7,500 square foot gym in San Marcos, CA, a city just northeast of San Diego. He trains dozens of kids after school and on weekends. During the day he works with adults looking to improve their health, bodybuilders, and competitive athletes from most sports.

"Latest reports suggest that one out of two kids do not get the 30-60 minutes of daily physical activity they need," says Dr. Sal Arria, Executive Director of the International Sports Sciences Association, a Fitness Education company based in Santa Barbara, California. "This decline in activity is directly responsible for the ominous rise of childhood obesity, Type II diabetes and countless other health maladies attacking our youth," Dr. Arria went on to say.

"Personal trainers specializing in Youth Fitness, hold the key to changing young kids lives forever," Dr. Arria said, "We know that the habits they develop now will last a lifetime and Clark is leading the way for all personal trainers and health clubs around the country to
take care of our kids."

"Working with young clients is not like training little adults; a valuable lesson I learned while studying the YFT - ISSA Youth Fitness Trainer course," reports Clark, "I continue my education to give the absolute best service I can provide to each and every client. It really makes a difference in our gym's reputation."

Dr. Arria went on to say, "We're proud to be the organization who trains the trainers, but more proud that our members like Clark, are truly making a difference in the health and lives of hundreds of thousands of people, young and old. If our kids are our future, we've got to help them develop the right health habits at a young age or our future is guaranteed to be the most obese, sickly, group of adults our nation has ever had."
