Newberry Wins in Jacksonville, Takes Lead in the 2004 PBR World Standings

The 2003 Professional Bull Riders Rookie of the Year, Jody Newberry, captures event title in Jacksonville, FL. Jacksonville was the 2004 PBR Built Ford Tough Series first event of the season.

(PRWEB) December 30, 2003 --XD Sports athlete Jody Newberry, (Wrangler, Professional Meters) 2003 PBR Rookie of the Year, continued his hot streak in Jacksonville, FL. this weekend. Jacksonville was the opening event for the 2004 PBR Built Ford Tough Series. Back in November, Jody achieved the biggest victory of his career by winning the 2003 PBR World Finals which also helped him capture the title of 2003 PBR Rookie of the Year. After taking a six week rest from competition, Jody was nervous that he may be a little rusty coming into Jacksonville. There was no rust to be found and Jody picked up right where he left off in November. On his way to victory Jody split fifth place in the first round with an 86.5 and was second in the Ford Championship round with an 89. When all was said and done, Jody's two ride average of 175.5 made him the champion in Jacksonville. Jody's win gave him $32,490 and 520.5 tour points which makes him the leader in the PBR World Standings.
