Cleveland Ohio (PRWEB) December 31, 2003 --East Cleveland author M. LaVora's Perry's children's book TANEESHA'S TREASURES OF THE HEART was chosen as of 25 works to be performed on stage by actors, media personalities and community leaders for the Poets' & Writers' League of Greater Cleveland's (PWLGC) annual Writers & Their Friends literary showcase at the Cleveland Playhouse on May 15, 2004. Publishers, editors, agents and the media will attend the highly- publicized gala event.

2004 will mark the fifth anniversary of Writers & Their Friends. In previous years, tickets have sold out quickly. PWLGC will mail invitations in late February, 2004.

Since TANEESHA'S TREASURES OF THE HEART's publication in June 2003, Ms. Perry has worked enthusiastically to gain exposure for the story about an African-American urban girl who relies on friendship, courage and her Buddhist faith to stand up to a bullying child.

Ms. Perry's efforts led to an appearance on National Public Radio's Tavis Smiley Show (July 23, 2003), to TANEESHA'S TREASURES OF THE HEART being featured in the November-December issue of Black Issues Book Review and and to the book's inclusion in the curriculum of public school children in the African nation of Zambia.

In addition, the leaders of the largest Buddhist organization in the U.S--Soka Gakkai International (SGI-USA)--elected to sell TANEESHA'S TREASURES OF THE HEART in the 71 SGI-USA bookstores nationwide and online from the organization's Web site, www.sgi-usa.org. TANEESHA'S TREASURES OF THE HEART is now in its third printing.
