Mystery Clears on Famous Bullwinkle Cartoon Voice
Now the truth is known about the voice of Sherman on Rocky and Bullwinkle's Peabody and Sherman: Walter Tetley.
(PRWEB) December 31, 2003 --Now that the first season of the classic cartoon series Rocky and Bullwinkle has finally been released on DVD, with more coming soon, everyone wants to know, "Who did the voices?" One mystery has been cleared up. Sherman, pet boy of the time-traveling segment Peabody and Sherman, finally has been given his due.
Charles Stumpf, author of For Corn's Sake, the new biography on voice actor Walter Tetley, admits, "Everyone knows his cartoon work today, but few people realize that Walter was one of the finest and most prolific radio actors for twenty years. His life was fascinating. His stage mother urged him into the limelight that eventually made him one of the most popular supporting players throughout the whole of radio. His high-pitched voice kept him in juvenile roles for years, and of course his unfortunate height problem meant he could play kids in a variety of film classics in the 1940s, even though he was well over thirty years old."
Walter Tetley is also famous as the lead voice of Andy Panda cartoons, and to older listeners, he is nephew Leroy on The Great Gildersleeve, as well as the best brat in radio on The Phil Harris/Alice Faye Show. For Corn's Sake contains never before seen photos and is already causing a buzz in the cartoon world. Charles Stumpf is a recognized radio historian and old time radio guru, author of the official biographies of The Great Gildersleeve and Fibber McGee and Molly.
