Bono's Angels: U2 Fans helping advocate to DROP THE DEBT

Bono's Angels is a letter writing/call-in campaign which helps to adovate for dropping the debt held against impoverished nations.

Welcome to Bono's Angels! We're a group of U2 fans (and non-fans) who have committed our energy and time to making the world a more just and humane place! While children starve, and while their parents die of AIDS, TB, malaria and other diseases, the impoverished nations hit hardest are forced to pay millions, even billions, in debt service to the world's wealthiest nations!

Some countries, like Benin and Angola, acutally pay TWICE as much as they recieve in international "aid." Many of these debts are illegitimate anyway, being either repaid already or incurred during dictatorships that are no long in place. Our leaders will NOT act on this issue until they hear from us, and thus Bono's Angels' was born: we've all written letters or made phone calls to Bush, frm. Sec. O'Neill, Sec. Snow and others to be sure they get the message. We will not be silent while the world's richest countires make money off of the world's poorest!
