Saskens GSM/GPRS communication software solution to be integrated on Nationals platform, providing terminal developers with time to market advantage and extensive support.

3GSM World Congress, Cannes, France; 18 February 2003 – Sasken Communication Technologies Limited, a leading provider of embedded wireless terminal software solutions, today announced the signing of an agreement to license the companys GSM/GPRS communications software solution, which includes Sasken protocol stack, to National Semiconductors for integration in their newly-announced GSM/GPRS chipsets.

The combination of Saskens software and National Semiconductors chipsets will drive out time and cost from the R&D process for mobile terminal developers, as testing and compliance have already been completed. Indeed, wireless devices incorporating this optimised and fully integrated solution are expected to be in the market later this year.

In addition to supplying core communication software components, Sasken will also provide integration and support services to those handset and device customers using the National GSM/GPRS chipset. These key services, which will be delivered across various stages of the product development cycle, will help drive time to market and overall cost issues, as convergence and complexity demands place greater emphasis on quality and compliance.
