San Juan Capistrano, California: Colene Schwandt is a professional soloist residing in Dana Point. She has performed in Music Festivals around the world. On April 27, Colene will bring her talent to the Camino Real Playhouse. Joining her on stage will be Thomas Macfarlane and Ronald Warnell. The Sunday afternoon tea and concert, Mostly Americana", will feature works by Gershwin, Bernstein, Copland, Sondheim and others. Selections include John Kanders A Letter from Sullivan Ballou, Maria and Somewhere from Leonard Bernsteins West Side Story and excerpts from Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin.
Ms. Schwandt has organized this event in celebration of the work that B.J. and Tom Scott have done to bring excellent community theatre to the residents of San Juan Capistrano and the surrounding communities. The South Orange County Community Theatre was founded by B.J. Scott and now celebrates its tenth anniversary season in the Camino Real Playhouse. B.J. was recognized in 2001by the City of San Juan Capistrano for her selfless efforts in bring live theatre to the residents. Last year, the Chamber of Commerce awarded the theatre $1000 for its excellent work, not only in theatre production, but also for community outreach. Ms. Schwandt is generously donating the proceeds of this event to the theatre, to enable the theatre to grow and expand the services offered to the community.
