FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

San Francisco, CA —: In its much anticipated debut performance, the Golden Gate Wind Quintet will be performing a program titled Contemporary American Classics." The program will include: Diversions for Wind Quintet by Lee Hoiby, Quintet for Winds by David Amram, Partita for Wind Quintet by Irving Fine and Quintet for Winds by Robert Muczynski. The concert is on Friday, March 14, 2003 at 8:00pm at the San Francisco Community Center (544 Capp Street, San Francisco), There is no admission charge, however, donations will be accepted.

The Golden Gate Wind Quintet was formed in 2002 to fill the void in the SF Bay area for a professional quality woodwind quintet. Comprised of flute(Jeffery Pelletier), oboe(Ivan Aladjoff), clarinet(Leslie Tagorda), French horn(Everett Doner) and bassoon(Scott Posey), woodwind quintet music combines versatility, scintillating sounds and unique instrumentation to create a very captivating texture.

Modeled after the New York Woodwind Quintet, the Golden Gate Wind Quintets goal is to perform the full spectrum of quintet music and to encourage composers to create new music for this genre. In fact, later this year, the Golden Gate Woodwind Quintet will be performing a world premier composition/commission by composer Sy Brandon.
