YELM, WA - March 3, 2003 – The first anniversary of O.W. Dashs Bookstore is fast approaching. Long time Yelm area residents Dave and Sharon Banks opened a paperback exchange bookstore on Highway 507 across from Yelm City Park on May 1st of last year. The official address is 305 1st Street in Yelm, Washington. The store now has a website www.owdash.com and an incredible selection of new books online! In a year when five local businesses have closed their doors, O.W. Dash's Bookstore is a success story.

And where did the name O.W. Dash's Bookstore come from? Sharon said she and Dave tossed names back and forth for a month. As a joke she suggested "Older, Wiser Dave and Sharon" and, well, there you have it. That evolved into O.W. Dash.

Here is the short version of how the store works. Customers may trade their books toward the purchase of other books in most areas of the store. With trading credit, the customer can purchase a book with as little as 10 percent of the original cover price in cash. This store provides an opportunity to recycle books and save.

There are thousands of books to choose from. The books are sorted into categories and then alphabetized first by author and then by title in a library format. It makes it easy to find a particular book quickly and easily.
