NEW YORK - Welcome the warm breezes at TIKI ROOM, the stylish Flatiron lounge located at 4 West 22nd Street off 5th Avenue. The 3,500 dual-level lounge boasts an 18 foot Tiki icon from the creative mind of Eddie Dean. Designed by architect Nancy Mah, (Lotus, Sushi Samba and Sushi Samba 7), Tiki is a fantastical atmosphere guaranteed to stimulate your tropical senses. Mah's talents for creating theatrical and soothing interiors come alive with a functional design elements at this high-concept venue. Patrons are able to actually sit inside the head of the Tiki and tower over the atmosphere! Thatched huts, wooden benches and colored loofah cocktail tables are surrounded by vibrant orange and cranberry banquettes. Tiki Room is also equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, audio and visual systems. 42" High Definition Plasma screens showcase beach and surf videos enhancing that vacation feeling. The Plasma screens are designed for quick interface for Internet access for private events and presentations. Serving as both a VIP lounge and grand entranceway to the main dining room stands an 18 feet Tiki icon adorned with modern shapes. Bamboo shoots, burlap and light woods are used in the private downstairs lounge. Tiki's menu offers "vacation cuisine" featuring small plates reminiscent of exotic flavors enjoyed on a trip to Bali or Brazil. An equally intriguing drink menu abounds with rare tropical fruit juices blended to order. The first ever high-tech slurp machine makes perfect frozen libations sure to keep the summer cool and vacation spirit alive. This top of the line blending machine made by Vita Mix is the first of its kind in Manhattan. Also a frozen cappuccino maker rounds out a wide offering of non-alcoholic drinks offered. Tiki Room celebrates cocktail hour from 5 to 8pm, Monday through Friday and includes specialty drinks and light fare. The kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 5pm to midnight and Saturday from 7pm to midnight.
