New Encrypted Email Software Combats Interception and Snooping
Birmingham UK based company develops "virtually impenetrable" software to protect email from prying eyes.
A Birmingham based company has developed software that will protect e-mail against interception and snooping. Developed by expert , Dr. David Reynolds , ‘Fortress Mail' is easily installed on any Windows based computer. The software utilises some of the most advanced encryption algorithms available , making Fortress protected email virtually impenetrable.
Tony King, a partner in developers , Silicon Village said;
I saw that there was a need to protect sensitive email, whether it was in the Medical, Legal, Media or the General Business arena. There was nothing like our software available, something that is quick, easy to use, effective and inexpensive. Awareness of anti-virus protection is high generally , but little or nothing is being done to protect sensitive information from interception. Fortress is the equivalent of putting your message in a cast-iron welded-shut envelope ."
Most organisations have a firewall that will protect their e-mail system from a virus, but not interception. As a nation, over 3 billion business emails are sent each year and this trend looks set to grow. Email security, has never been such an important issue, especially with legislation on the horizon, permitting interception and snooping
The UK's National Health Service has been quick to trial Fortress Mail for it's Pathology messaging service. Fortress Mail is now being trialled by a number of different agencies and businesses, including Solicitors,UK Police Forces , Anti-fraud units, Social Services , Insurance Companies, Banks and Financial Institutions, Film companies and Private Individuals.
Silicon Village is also in final testing of Fortress SMS, an AES standard SMS text-encryption programme for mobile phones and PDA's.Fortress SMS will permit encrypted messaging between computers and mobile devices and, mobile to mobile encrypted messaging.
