B2B Bulk IT Auctions – Now Online

London, UK – 20 March 2003 – After about 8 solid years of the World Wide Web being commercial, youd think that just about every kind of website would have been made already. Indeed, for consumers, that may be the case. However, b2b services have been slightly slower in getting going – even in the IT market – and only now are businesses able to auction off their old IT equipment or buy bulk items in an online auction arena set-up just for them.

AzosysAuctions.com isnt one of the dot bomb stories – you know, get tens of millions in start-up funding, get loads of people to sign up, then go bust. This is one of those sites that has had to get going the really hard way: experience, sweat, hard work.

The site doesnt jump out at you with heaps of flash and gimmicky stuff. Not that its technically tricky or difficult to do, but rather that the Azosys Auctions directors realise that business-people are interested in getting the job done in the most cost effective manner with the least amount of hassle. If they want to auction off their equipment, thats what they want to do – not have a demonstration of some whiz-kids Flash skills.

Of course, this site isnt going to appeal to all businesses. AzosysAuctions.com is definitely only for a very niche market and that market is specifically businesses that either want to sell their old IT equipment for the best market price or those who want to find some really sweet deals.

If youre going to be registering on this site, youve got to meet a couple of basic criteria. First, you have to be a business. You could be a consumer, but there arent too many single consumers out there looking to buy 250 monitors in one go, for example.

Secondly, if youre a seller, youve got to actually have the 250 monitors to sell. And if youre buyer, youve really got to want to take delivery or pick them all up.

Azosys Auctions spokesperson and director, Yvan Bamping, said that their most interested customers are those businesses who regularly shift bulk IT equipment; those who have been in the business for a while and want to expand their contacts."

Sam Aaban, MD of Azosys Ltd, one of the partners in Azosys Auctions, has indicated that there is significant interest from computer leasing firms and large corporates, too, because they often have contractual obligations to renew their equipment."

So, youve got your equipment to auction off (or youre looking for some quality used equipment), so what now? The process is quite simple: you place your auction or bid on one.

To be a buyer or seller you obviously need to register with all the usual details. Once inside the auction arena, buyers have it pretty straightforward in that they look around for the type of deal they want and then the place their bids. Simple really.

Sellers have a little more work to do. They need to decide the terms and conditions of their sale: will they ship the goods for the buyer or demand that the buyer pick them up? What currency do they take payments in? Do they have a picture of the goods? Perhaps they dont want to sell to anyone in France or Germany for the moment – and all these things need to be specified in their auction.

The good news for both sellers and buyers is that there isnt a registration fee. In fact, buyers can place as many auctions as they want and if their minimum price isnt met (the auction is unsuccessful), then they can place it again without any fees. There are fees, of course, but they will only be charged on a sliding-scale commission rate on successful auctions – as a percentage of the final value.

Whether youre a small business just getting started and looking to keep capital expenditures as low as possible; or a large corporate getting rid of used equipment for new; Azosys Auctions is very much geared towards the business-to-business market looking to buy and sell new and used bulk IT equipment. Since this is a previously unfilled gap in the market, we can expect some very significant results from this company in the future.
