Ann Arbor, MI - West Pole, Inc. announces the next meeting of SEMRUG – the Southeast Michigan Rational User Group on April 17. The topic is Bridging the Gap Between Use Cases and Design", presented by Ron Suarez, President of Object Insight. SEMRUG welcomes developers using all types of methodologies and software, as many of the techniques discussed are applicable in any environment.
The meeting will be held at IBM in Southfield, and is free. Networking begins at 5:30, with a presentation from 6 to 7 pm. To register for the event, call 734-995-6390 x16, email catherine@westpole.com, or visit www.semrug.org.
Mr. Suarez will review Use Cases, which describe sequences of actions performed by a user (actor) within a system to achieve a goal. Using real life examples, Mr. Suarez will illustrate how to find Analysis Classes; which describe, in a simple way, how business operations work. He will also begin a Design Model, which is used to translate the Analysis Classes into Objects that are used to develop software. In doing this Mr. Suarez will discuss what UML expert Doug Rosenberg calls Robustness Analysis", which can bridge the gap between a Use Case and design level diagrams.
Attendees will have an opportunity to enter a free drawing for a copy of Ivar Jacobson's book, "The Object Advantage", which contains some of the core background for the topic being presented. The drawing is sponsored by Object-Insight of Ann Arbor, which is also the refreshment sponsor for the meeting. Refreshments for the evening will include heavy hoursde vours.
