Personal News Toolbar Launched at StumbleUpon.com
Personalized online news coverage is now available through the My News category on the StumbleUpon Toolbar. User preferences are matched with stories from a wide range of sources to present only the most relevant content for Internet news seekers.
StumbleUpon.com has announced the launch of its My News online service to facilitate the customization of breaking news stories on the Internet. It allows users of the StumbleUpon Toolbar to indicate their categories of interest so that they may browse through the latest news items which will appeal to them.
The StumbleUpon news service gathers breaking news items from numerous sources across the Internet. These items are then matched to individual user interests and preferences so that only the most relevant content is presented.
"The addition of a news service was the next logical step," claims StumbleUpon President, Geoff Smith. "We already target content to our users based on their preferences. Now we can also present them with the latest news items that will be of interest to them."
StumbleUpon is a free content-location tool for Internet users. Through the StumbleUpon Toolbar, users indicate their interests and then click the 'Stumble' button to view web sites that match their preferences. The addition of the My News category to the list of interests available to users now enables them to also view the latest news articles from around the world.
"Our news service will guide members to the latest articles and stories from a wide range of sources on the Internet," says Smith. "Seekers of the latest news will no longer have to rely on a single source for their coverage. Our users will obtain a greater understanding of the issues that affect them by viewing news items with varying points of view."
The StumbleUpon news service is available by downloading the free StumbleUpon Toolbar. By clicking 'Stumble' within the My News category, you will locate the latest news items related to your personal preferences.
