Ann Arbor, MI - West Pole, Inc., a local software and web development company, is sponsoring the Greater Lansing Race for the Cure on April 27, 2003, at 1 pm at the State Capitol. West Pole is a jogger sponsor, along with companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Care Network of Michigan, and Delta Dental.

Our sponsorship of this event is simply a continuation of West Poles commitment to helping in the fight against cancer. For example, our employees pledged over $800 to support breast cancer research last year", said Vice President, John Corey.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The Foundation is an international organization with a network of volunteers who work through local Affiliates and Komen Race for the Cure events to fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

The Foundation runs one of the countrys most innovative, responsive grant programs in breast health services. In addition to funding research, the Foundation and its Affiliates fund breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects or the medically underserved in communities across the country Breast cancer affects one in eight women. If detected in its earliest stages, breast cancer is over 95% survivable. For more information call the Breast Care HelpLine at 1-800-IM Aware or visit: www.komen.org.

Up to 75% of the net proceeds for the Race stay in fund breast health screening, education and treatment programs. No less than 25% of the net proceeds fund national breast cancer research.
