Over 10,000 scientific articles are published in more than 30,000 journals each week. The task of selecting those that are of direct relevance to drug discovery is both time-consuming and often spurious. LeadDiscovery's most recent service, DailyUpdates, offers a first of its kind solution" to this problem.

Dr Jon Goldhill, CEO of LeadDiscovery has witnessed first hand the problem of scientific surveillance during his time with French pharmaceutical giants Sanofi-Synthelabo. In a recent interview Dr Goldhill recounted I would spend hours in the library or on-line just to find a few breaking articles central to my target discovery activities. This always seemed so time consuming and I usually felt that my time could be better spent doing other things".

The frustration experienced by Dr Goldhill is shared by many in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. PubMed offers excellent search facilities to researchers looking for publications on a given scientific subject. However focusing a search on publications of direct relevance to drug discovery is challenging.

To meet this challenge LeadDiscoverys panel of pharmaceutical analysts pans PubMed entries on a daily basis and selects those publications considered relevant to key areas of drug discovery.

Continues Dr Goldhill, we have witnessed a growth in the number of services that delivery by e-mail targeted press releases to the pharma sector. DailyUpdates has been modeled on such services and we are now the first company able to deliver lists of publications to the drug discovery sector. Our selection criteria are quite strict.
