75+ Streaming Teen Career Dreams

Teens and educators get requested shows! MYCOOLCAREER.com teen website delivers 30-minute career show interview ARCHIVES 24x7 via streaming MP3 web radio.

Los Angeles, CA - April 12, 2003 - Studies show that teens do not have enough exposure to career ideas and the paths to them, and that they are desperate for this information. The MYCOOLCAREER.com website for teens and 20s has set out to fix this problem.

Sarah Hall, 16-year old radio co- host in on 101.5 FM in Jackson, TN agrees. In a recent email to the site's host, Hall says, "You are so right about teens and college students not knowing what they want to do with their life." Hall says that they don't know where to turn for help and that the website is really helpful, and "cool".

Ever since the site began webcasting weekly radio career interviews, teens, college and career counselors, and college and university career centers have been requesting MYCOOLCAREER.com archived audio shows, among them DeVry, California State University Long Beach, and the University of California Los Angeles.

Erin Loveridge, a high school senior in San Pedro, California, says, "I can't believe how great the information is on these shows!" Loveridge is wrestling with several very different career ideas and says the shows have really helped her understanding of herself, these careers, and honed her focus for college.

Jill Sanborne, creator of the MYCOOLCAREER.com website and web radio show host, says, "Teens have never had a career, so they don't know what the questions might be. I do, and I also encourage teens to do their own interviews on the DIY page."

The archives include interviews with a wide range of professionals, from actor Valente Rodriguez of The George Lopez Show and Naughty Dog computer game designer Jason Rubin, to veterinarian Dr. Maria Chadam. These interviews were requested by teens who use the website to explore their career ideas and prepare for their futures.

It has always been the vision of MYCOOLCAREER.com to provide the archived shows, and Sanborne is delighted to have this key information up and streaming. She says, "Career dreams are very important, but they're useless without self-knowledge and earnest exploration. We provide these tools because the idea of what a career may be like is often very different from the reality. We also like to interview people in 'hot' careers of the future, like a fuel cell engineer."

Sanborne says, "You won't believe how much information we can cover in 30 minutes!" She and her guest discuss what each career is really like - good and bad, what skills and qualities are needed, the education or training required, the guest's personal path, and advice on how students can prepare while in school. The shows play for both PCs and Apple computers.

Many schools face challenges in bringing good information to their students because of old technology. Sanborne says, "I receive lots of gratitude from school counselors across the country who have old PCs, and no speaker cards nor speakers, so they can't directly share this resource at school - but they'd like to." Sanborne says that they needs these tools because technology is key to the "hot" careers of the future.

Sanborne says, "I'm really impressed with the kinds of career dreams that teens have! And I'm astonished by the obvious positive influence of television in exposing teens to career ideas, such as forensic psychologist and criminal justice attorney!"

MYCOOLCAREER.com, popular career exploration website for teens and 20's, and features The 3 Steps To Your Cool Career, and the info-packed 30-minute career interviews. Sanborne researches teens' needs and provides solutions to the challenges they face in preparing for rewarding careers, is a regular guest on talk shows, and speaks to teens and parent audiences about how teens can prepare for an awesome future. The site is recommended by CareerProNews.com, endorsed by Barbara Sher and the Los Angeles Unified School District Counseling Services K-12.
