GoIndustry and World Wide Auctioneers Hold Record Breaking Auction in Dubai.
On-line Webcast and Iraq reconstruction leads to the highest auction sales to date.
GoIndustry partnered with WWA co-market a record breaking auction in Dubai of construction equipment. Using new webcast technology provided by GoIndustry, buyers bidding on the Internet purchased 10% of the value of the auction.
April 11, 2003— Dubai, UAE - GoIndustry and World Wide Auctioneers (WWA) announced today the successful completion of an unreserved construction equipment auction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates April 8th through 10th. Gross auction sales exceeded US$15.1 million, with over 400 registered bidders from 24 countries participating.
GoIndustry (www.goindustry.com) partnered with WWA (www.wwauctions.com) to webcast and co-market the auction for live on-line bidders. Buyers bidding on the Internet purchased approximately 10% of the value of the auction. The auction produced the highest turnover, the highest total number of registered bidders, the most successful bidders (206), the most consignors (141), and the highest gross profit at any WWA auction since its inception in 2000.
GoIndustry CEO Herbert Willmy stated, We see the Gulf region as a vital and growing area for business in the wake of current events. Working with WWA on this and future auctions is important in our strategy for the region." Co-founder and EVP Marketing & Technology Alex Hoye added, Webcast registrants from 12 countries around the world, including Australia, China, and the U.S. gave us very positive feedback on our webcast software. Providing a way for bidders to participate in industrial auctions around the world with the click of a mouse is revolutionizing the industrial auction business, and GoIndustry and WWA are on the forefront of this shift."
This auction was a success in every way," announced WWA Managing Director Carl Van Lieshout. The market for most categories was surprisingly strong, especially considering the uncertainty in the region in March. We look forward to holding at least 3 more auctions this year in Dubai, a market that we expect to be very strong in the future. Our venture into online bidding and marketing with GoIndustry was an overall success; it worked nearly flawlessly. We will continue webcasting our auctions with GoIndustry in the future."
WWA and GoIndustry also announced that it would partner on sales in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 21 in Jakarta, in Dubai on June 2-4, and in future auctions. Given experience in last weeks sale, consignments in place now, and inquiries to date, a record turnover and gross profit is projected for the Dubai sale.
