Aculab announces VoIP promotion

In response to an increase in focus on VoIP by end users and developers – in particular contact centres and IVR solutions, Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the communications market, today announced a special offer VoIP promotional package. This means that developers can get straight down to the practice of developing applications with maximum speed.

17th April 2003 - Australia, China, Germany, India, Korea, South America, UK, USA - In response to an increase in focus on VoIP by end users and developers – in particular contact centres and IVR solutions, Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the communications market, today announced a special offer VoIP promotional package. This means that developers can get straight down to the practice of developing applications with maximum speed.

The package consists of a 30 channel IP telephony card and a one-day VoIP quick-start workshop. The workshop looks at how to implement existing applications into this new environment. It also provides a practical demonstration of a VoIP enabled application and how to install an IP telephony card with a code walk-through.

Chris Gravett, sales and marketing director at Aculab, said, After all the hype and excitement within the VoIP market in 1999-2000 and the disappointment and scepticism that followed, 2003 is beginning to see confidence building, with VoIP technology now being accepted and deployed. Developers taking advantage of this promotion have the opportunity to take part in a focused workshop and benefit from our extensive experience over recent years."

Aculabs VoIP product portfolio includes IP telephony cards in either PCI or cPCI form factor. These standards based cards offer up to 120 channels with low latency, using H.323 or SIP, in a single card slot. Unlike competing products, Aculabs IP telephony cards come with a single API, which is just a small extension to the generic API that existing customers will be familiar with. The same API library is used for all digital network access cards, making porting and compiling of applications easy for customers.

For a new user all that is required is to master a couple of API commands or function calls. Uniquely, the API provides easy control of the protocol stack, RTP packet handling and voice compression, from within a single interface. For new and active developers alike this makes it easy to leverage IP telephony through existing applications, which can be ported from current platforms with minimal time and effort.

The IP telephony cards can be used as a means of moving traffic between dissimilar networks as in a media or signalling gateway and also to leverage existing IVR or unified messaging applications.

For developers seeking to provide IP telephony features in new solutions, or to enhance applications and replicate existing functionality, Aculab has implemented several H.450.2 call transfer cases.

The promotion is currently available in Europe for a limited time period. To secure your place, or to find out more, please contact iptelephony@aculab.com
About Aculab

Through a customer-focused approach to development, Aculab has produced a computer telephony (CT) product portfolio that satisfies the speech resource and global digital connectivity requirements of developers and system integrators. CT applications utilising Aculabs components can handle real-time telephony, through an extensive range of resources and signalling systems.

The evolution of Aculabs generic API, to provide a consistent programming interface, reduces the integration time of a combination of technologies including text-to-speech (TTS), automatic speech recognition (ASR), conferencing and fax. Collectively through supporting a broad range of industry standards and operating systems, Aculab can provide the products needed when quality and performance cannot be compromised.
