Refreshing Elements, a Kansas City based jewelry design studio, will formally celebrate the grand opening of their internet jewelry gallery, with a week of introductory specials only to be offered from April 21st to 27th. Just in time for a fabulous mothers day gift. Refreshing Elements carries the work of two talented jewelry designers, Marcy Hall and Susan Myers. They describe their business as: Vibrant expressive bead and wirework jewelry handcrafted from fine materials." They do not offer mass produced jewelry pieces, instead, each piece is a one of a kind work of art that will display the wearers uniqueness.
Both artists are complimented regularly for their wonderful sense of color." They create jewelry because it brings them joy and that joy is reflected in their designs. Often noticed in a crowd, their designs have been described as vibrant", fun", marvelous", full of joyful energy" and truly refreshing". Since these comments also reflect how they want customers to feel wearing their pieces, the name Refreshing Elements" seemed fitting. Marcy says, Colors, textures and shapes can affect and reflect your mood as well as your style." The jewelry itself then becomes an "element" which the wearer uses to create the perfect outfit for their mood or occasion. To ensure a quality piece, the artists also use fine "elements" in creating them, like sterling silver, niobium, kiln annealed artisan lampwork glass, crystals and semiprecious gemstones. When creating neutral pieces, they especially focus on the visual appeal of unique shapes, textures and designs.
Marcy is mostly self taught in the jewelry field, although she has taken formal study in silversmithing, enameling and glass lampwork bead making. Some of the designs made in those classes were regionally award winning. Her current creations reflect her love of the abstract. She is frequently complimented for her unconventional use of wire. She says, I find infinite expression in color and form working with lampwork beads, silver and niobium wire." Niobium is a very rare naturally occuring hypoallergenic precious metal that when adonized, displays several different bright colors which last a lifetime. Her pieces are inspired by the creativity found in nature, be it the shape of a leaf, or the color palette of a flower next to an interesting rock and a backdrop of sky.
Susan has always been an artist at heart, and has explored many mediums and enjoyed them all. She is a graphic designer as well as a jewelry artist, and created the Refreshing Elements internet gallery, identity and print pieces. She is a perfectionist in her work with a passion for visual impact. Her current jewelry style reflects a fascination with silver and unusual color combinations. Susan holds a fine arts degree and has been a professional artist for more than 20 years. Recalling that her first "love beads" were sold in boutiques "ages ago", she expresses delight that she knows of some customers who still wear and enjoy her first timeless silver creations.
Refreshing Elements sells retail via their secure internet gallery at www.RefreshingElements.com. They also welcome wholesale inquiries, and can be occasionally found at local art shows. Their pricing is mid range, for the same price as a jewelry purchase from one of the larger franchise clothing retailers a customer can receive a one of a kind piece of art crafted by a US artisan.
