Portal Software and SAP Team to Deliver Revenue Management Solution to the Telecommunications Industry
Integrated Solution to Leverage Superior Technology from SAP® for Telecommunications and Portals Infranet®
CUPERTINO, CA and WALLDORF, Germany (PRWEB) May 1, 2003 - Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRSF) and SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced they have signed a global strategic alliance and software development agreement to deliver an integrated solution that combines Portals industry leading billing solution, Infranet®, with SAP® for Telecommunications, SAPs industry-specific solution for the telecommunications industry. The combined solution will be designed to help telecommunications providers resolve the increasing number of revenue leakage issues they experience as they roll out new services. Under the terms of the agreement, Portal and SAP will jointly develop, market and sell the pre-integrated and packaged solution.
Revenue management, in particular to control the leakage of revenue across increasingly more complex value chains, has become a real concern for providers across the globe," said Chris Barnard, research manager, European OSS and Billing at IDC. The SAP and Portal Software solution provides not only a robust set of functions for managing revenue assurance and revenue leakage issues, but also a significant advantage to telecommunications service providers in reducing implementation time and on-going infrastructure costs for such a solution versus traditional, custom built approaches."
The solution from Portal and SAP seamlessly integrates key billing system processes with financial business processes, enabling telecommunications providers to more effectively deal with revenue assurance issues by providing complete, real-time visibility into customer transactions. Furthermore, the joint solution takes advantage of the open architectures of both Portals Infranet and SAP for Telecommunications, allowing service providers to simplify and streamline their billing and financial transaction processing lifecycles. The result is an improved ability to rapidly introduce new services while reducing their overall cost of operations.
The flexibility of Portals billing solution, combined with the clear demand we have received from our customers to integrate SAP for Telecommunications with Portals Infranet, made Portal a clear choice for SAP to work with in delivering a comprehensive revenue management solution," said Roland Buerkle, vice president, IBU Telecommunications, SAP AG. We look forward to collaborating with Portal in a combined effort that allows us to extend the reach of SAP solutions for not just the telecommunications industry, but also for other industries as we move forward together."
Revenue management is a significant challenge in the telecommunications industry, requiring the seamless integration of billing and financials systems," said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president, Business Development and Global Alliances, Portal Software. Our strategic agreement with SAP delivers on this demand, enabling our customers to simplify their systems landscape through the complete and comprehensive integration of our packaged solutions, addressing the issue of revenue assurance with the most robust set of functionality available in the market at the lowest total cost of ownership."
