WEST HAVEN, CT (PRWEB) May 7, 2003 -- May 7, 2003. West Haven, CT -- The WestHavenRotary.org web site of the Rotary Club of West Haven was recently honored with a Humanitarian Award from American Awards, a web-based awards program and index located at http://www.awardindex.com. The purpose of the award is to recognize and honor webmasters who have dedicated their sites to promote human welfare and social reform. Sites are evaluated in four areas: Aesthetics, Navigation, Legal Documentation, and Technical Accuracy.
Evaluator Megan Marsh of American Awards comments, "We visited Rotary Club of West Haven, CT and have found it to be a great site for the Humanitarian Award. The donations that Rotary Club of West Haven distribute each year really touched our hearts. This club does a lot for their community and neighbors. " She continues, "It would be a true honor if you would accept this special award from us. We get a lot of applications for this award, but not all receive it."
And on a more personal note, Marsh added: " I was truly touched by the work this club does and I am extremely proud to display it with the other Humanitarian winners this year. Rotary does a great service in communities all over and I am so thankful you share that with us on the Internet."
Launched in September 2002, the Rotary Club's web site is designed to increase awareness about Rotary and the important service activities the club performs in the community. The site also contains valuable information for members concerning upcoming meetings and events. The site, which was created by club member Brett Rabideau of Periwinkle Communications LLC, is updated weekly and features everything from photos of recent events, news articles, listings of recent donations, information about and links to Rotary International, and a calendar of upcoming activities.
"We are delighted to receive this award," remarks Club President Alan Olenick, "and very, very proud of Brett Rabideau for her efforts to put together such a great web site." "I encourage everyone to go check out our site to learn more about Rotary and see for first hand why our site was worthy of this award," he adds.
Brett Rabideau states "The web site is truly a club effort. Content comes from many members, including not only from our club President, secretary, PR committee, and historian, but also from other members who volunteer to keep our calendar up to date, or provide photographs of recent events. Just about every member has influenced the site in some way."
