"The New Girl", a new nonfiction work explores the social nature of gender with a firsthand, compassionate, humorous and hard-hitting approach not seen since John Howard Griffins groundbreaking exploration of race relations, Black Like Me". In the fall of 2001 Mike became Lisa. Lisa Anne Weber - 35, overweight, unemployed, and female. Changing his name, appearance, and legal identity, he would live as this woman for two months, attempting to build a life for her in the small college town of New Haven, CT. In the end, he was to discover something that transcends all our differences.
