In 2003, Dr. Arlene Barro founded barro global search.
Dr. Barro started her search and recruitment career in 1995 with Search West, an established leader in the industry since 1966. As the Director, Healthcare Services Division, Dr. Barro established a strong domestic and international client base, which included placing 40 candidates with a key client with no replacements.
Dr. Barro spent 15 years in the healthcare field even before beginning her search career. Heading up the $60 million education program for the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. Barro created and spearheaded NCIs Educational Research and Evaluation Branch. For NIH, she directed the first national program to educate physicians and other professionals about disease prevention, with a focus on cancer.
Prior to NIH, as a medical school dean, Dr. Barro founded and directed the nations first Office of Educational Evaluation in a medical school.
Dr. Barro attained international recognition for her pioneering work in physician performance measurement. This research, conducted for the Association of American Medical Colleges, resulted in a text used in schools of medicine and public health.
From the University of California at Los Angeles, Dr. Barro holds an MA in Educational Psychology and a PhD in Education with distinction for her doctoral dissertation on creativity in writers.
