New Spice Blends Capture the Flavor of Cape May

Cape May Herb and Spice Rubs capture the timeless spirit of Victorian Cape May and the flavor of the Jersey shore.

CAPE MAY, NJ – Cape May, NJ, one of the East Coasts premier tourist destinations, is known for its beaches, B&Bs, bistros, and now, its spice blends. Cape May Herb and Spice Rubs capture the timeless spirit of Victorian Cape May and the flavor of the Jersey shore.

Developed by the Craig family, owners of The Washington Inn and The Pelican Club, two of Cape Mays finest restaurants, Cape May Herb and Spice Rubs come in five unique flavors. Packaged in squat shiny tins, each herb and spice rub is crafted with no preservatives, fillers, or chemicals, so you get clean, natural tastes. Each flavor comes with a recipe or usage suggestion. Each tin is $6.95.

The five flavors include:
BBQ Shrimp and Rib Rub: Smokey and seductive, this blend combines the best of BBQ traditions. Perfect for seafood or pork barbecue. Use with salt to marinate meats or on ribs before you grill or sprinkle on fish before flouring and sautéing.

Brandied Peppercorn Rub: This rub is an intense blend of black and green peppercorns, shallots, and garlic, all laced with brandy. Sprinkle on filet mignon, chops, steaks, tuna, swordfish, salmon— even veggies, like spring beans. Use to season butter or oil.

Fish Herbs: A hometown blend inspired by Cape May fishermen, this seasoning blend enhances any fish and seafood dish — grilled, broiled, baked, sautéed, and fried. It's also a sensational seasoning for chicken, eggs, and vegetables. Combine with tomatoes, olives, and onions for an amazing topping for fish.

Blackened Seasoning: The flavors that make Louisiana famous are found in this versatile blend. Use on fish, steaks, lamb, pork, or as your secret ingredient."

Spicy Crab and Shrimp Boil: Inspired by local crabbers, this blend of peppers and other spices makes for some spicy and delicious shrimp and crabs.

Local lore has it that once you get sand in your shoes, you will always return to Cape May," says Betsy Craig. We think once youve had a Cape May meal, youll always crave it. Hopefully our herb and spice rubs will tide over those cravings until the next trip here. Just because vacation is over doesn't mean the experience has to end."

Cape May Herb and Spice Rubs are available online at www.lovethecook.com or at Love the Cook in Cape May, NJ (609-884-9292) and Stone Harbor, NJ (609-967-5252) and can be shipped worldwide.
