Produced by Terry and the legendary H.B. Barnum (Aretha Franklin's producer and arranger), "Peace For The Children" was inspired by the recent war in Iraq. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2003 -- Recording artist/songwriter Dave Terry announces the upcoming release of his original CD single "Peace For The Children" to benefit charitable organizations that protect children from domestic violence and war, such as Save The Children and UNICEF. The CD, which is available for pre-order at www.peaceforthechildren.com, is scheduled to ship on June 14 (Flag Day).
Produced by Terry and the legendary H.B. Barnum (Aretha Franklin's producer and arranger), "Peace For The Children" has a long history. This upbeat, catchy song was conceived in 1980 when Russia invaded Afghanistan. "I had written the verses back then but never finished it due to many circumstances," says Terry. "I became inspired once again during the Gulf War in 1991 and wrote the choruses." Still lacking resources, Terry had to put it on hold and moved on to other projects. In 2001, he signed a production deal with Barnum. "When the latest war developed in Iraq," Terry continues, "I became inspired again and set out to get it done this time. So I wrote the bridge for the song, arranged all the instrumentation on my keyboard and called HB to come over and hear it. He said, 'lets do it', so we took it to the studio and here it is."
Terry recently participated in the first-ever Save The Children Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C., where Sally Field, Kim Phuc, and Senator Joseph Biden spoke in support of legislation to protect innocent women and children in war and armed conflict. According to Save The Children, thirty-two wars are now being waged around the world, and one in four children worldwide lives in one of these dangerous situations.
"Striving for peace is the least we can do and the children deserve it," says Terry. Anyone wishing to help in this effort may listen to an online sample of "Peace For The Children" and pre-order the CD single at www.peaceforthechildren.com. Dave Terry Music will donate a significant portion of the proceeds to a charitable organization benefiting children in the crossfire.
