Dean Markley Strings primarily produces and sells strings for acoustic, electric, and classical guitars, as well as basses and other instruments. It also sells pickups, tuners, and accessories. The company evolved when music store owner (and current CEO) Dean Markley began experimenting with string designs and selling them in 1972 from his storefront. Markley's first taste of success came after he invented the Voice Box, a vocal effects processor, and rocker Peter Frampton featured it in his hit, "Show Me the Way." The Voice Box also brought the Markley name to the attention of distributors. Markley owns and runs Dean Markley Strings.
