ATTRIBUTE DEFECT RATE KIT CHECKS OUT PICK AND PLACE MACHINES
Practical Components has a new test board and kit to evaluate pick and place machines for attribute defect rates.
Practical Components has a new test board and kit to evaluate pick and place machines for attribute defect rates.
IPC has outlined standards (9850 section (4.1)) for rating attribute defects that are defined as components placed upside down, tombstone, on side, missing, extra part, damaged lead(s), damaged parts, completely off land, and wrong polarity. An exception is that upside down components are not to be counted as defects when using bulk feeders. Partially off-land and askew type placement defects are not included in this standard. Practical Components's 9850 kit is designed to this attribute defect rate standard and does not measure repeatability and accuracy standards.
Each board contains pads for 4,400 components total (440 SOT23s, 440 SO8s, 880 0603SMCs, 880 0603SMRs, 880 0402SMCs and 880 0402SMRs).
All boards from Practical are available as single boards or complete kits with all necessary dummy components.
This IPC standard requires the placement of 88,000 components and Practicals kit of 20 boards will meet this guideline. Each kit contains enough components to machine run the specified number of boards and a roll of sticky tape. Though this board is designed for placement with tape only, it can also also be printed with solder paste and reflowed.
On request this board comes with demonstration versions of CircuitCAM and CheckPoint manufacturing software, ready-to-run CircuitCAM Project Files (CPFs) and Gerber and X, Y Theta data at no extra charge.
