CORY MORROW CD / DVD COMBO, FULL EXPOSURE,
FINDS NEW DISTRIBUTION, SLATED FOR JULY 22 RELEASE
New Recording Plus Corys CD Catalog to be
Distributed by Smith Entertainment through Image Entertainment
AUSTIN, Tex. (PRWEB) -- Cory Morrows new album and DVD combo, originally promised for release earlier this year and delayed due to the shuttering of its original distributor, will find its way to the marketplace via a new distribution agreement with Smith Entertainment through Image Entertainment.
The new street date for the album is July 22, 2003.
The new album, titled Full Exposure (Write On Records), is far more than a CD alone. It consists of a live audio album capturing Corys July 2002 concert at Austins Waterloo Park. The album contains three new studio tracks, produced by veteran producer Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams.) And as a significant bonus, the package contains a free second disc -- a two-hour DVD visually capturing the Austin concert as well as behind-the-scenes footage for fans.
The value-added CD / DVD set -- two discs -- will retail for $16.98, the price of a single CD.
In addition to containing live versions of Corys hits (like "Love Me Like You Used To Do," which lodged at #1 on the Texas Music Chart for a month last year), plus a duet with Austin confrere Pat Green ("Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?") Full Exposure contains three new Cory Morrow studio tracks produced by Ray Kennedy in Nashville. The new tracks are "21 Days," "Nothing Better" and "GTMO Blues," a song Cory wrote with Glenn Shankle about his experience playing for American troops stationed in Cubas Guantanamo Bay during September 2002.
The DVD, included free with the audio CD, features two hours of live concert footage, b-roll from behind the scenes and interviews. Director was John Frazier of Austins Digital Performance. With the DVD, Morrow becomes the first Texas music artist to make a live performance available in this format.
According to Morrow, "The albums release was delayed because of the closing of our original distributor. We took our time to ensure that the album was in the best of distribution hands so that the album would get out to our fans. We firmly believe the combo of Smith Music and Image Entertainment is the best place for us, and for our genre of music."
Cory Morrows presence in the country music scene has grown exponentially since the 2002 release of his last studio album, Outside The Lines. That album charted as high as #28 on Billboards Country Album chart, #3 on the magazines Internet sales chart, #8 on the Independent album chart, and #16 on the Heatseekers chart. In addition, Morrow placed #7 among "country debut artists" for 2002, according to SoundScan -- all on an independent label.
Under the new distribution pact, Morrows catalog albums will be distributed through Smith Entertainment and Image Marketing at a discounted list price of $13.98.
The press also took notice of Morrow with Outside The Lines. Billboard called it "a diverse package loaded with insightful lyrics and plenty of hooks … production and picking are top-notch throughout, and Morrow takes a big step forward as both songwriter and singer." USA Today added, "(Cory Morrow) presents himself as a purveyor of good-time Lone Star country, but an existential battle rages beneath the surface of these songs…making this album country music for your inner outlaw." According to Country Weekly : "(Morrow is) ready to burst out of the Texas panhandle to national acclaim. The San Antonio Express News summed it up: "A little more acoustic, a little more complex, a little more polished -- it all adds up to a lot more depth. Morrow stretches his wings and soars while maintaining the gritty honesty -- and, with restraint and maturity, the unbridled energy -- that put him at the front of the Texas Music pack."
Cory Morrow will spend the remainder 2003 touring his native Texas and the Southwest, while breaking new ground into the Southeast, Midwest and West Coast. He will launch the CD with a series of in-store performances in 20 Texas and Oklahoma cities.
Morrow recently appeared on "Austin City Limits" with Pat Green.
