Inaugural Blues at the Forks Music Festival Set for September 6, 2003 -- Weekend Event to Feature Adventure Activities, Lodging, and Legendary Blues Performers

Award-winning singer, songwriter, harmonica player and guitarist Bill Chinnock, The Legend of the North Country".
The 4:00 PM to Midnight concert will also feature Pam Baker, Blue Steel Express, Jimmy and the Soul Cats, and The David Mello Band. Produced by Main Street Productions and hosted by Northern Outdoors, the promoters encourage fans to plan for a full weekend of rafting, kayaking, hiking and music in a magnificent riverside setting.
Topping the bill, Bill Chinnock was one of the original founders of the Asbury Park music scene. He was discovered by John Hammond, who called Chinnock The real essence of American Music". NJs Aquarian Magazine selected Bill as Live Entertainer of The Year". Chinnocks blues roots stem back to his early career when he shared the stage with John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Albert King, Sonny Terry & Brownie Magie and Willie Dixon to name just a few.
Bills singing and guitar playing have been characterized as soulful, immense, and emotional, combining the blues with the funky dance rhythms of R&B. He has recorded over nine albums including a duet with Roberta Flack and his live show and all-star band are not to be missed I'm looking forward to playing Blues at The Forks", noted Chinnock recently, September is a great time to be outdoors in Maine and we plan to give our fans a concert to remember." Chinnocks current band includes Tony Thunder" Smith on drums, Harry King on piano and John Kay on bass.
The location of the festival at Northern Outdoors Forks Resort Center adjacent to the Kennebec River is intended to provide festivalgoers with a variety of accommodation choices and outdoor adventure options. Music fans can easily combine the Saturday night concert with a day of whitewater rafting on the Kennebec, kayaking or hiking to create a full weekend getaway. Both camping and lodging packages including tickets to the festival are offered at the resort starting at just $31 per person, per night for a full-service campsite and $39 per person, per night (for a group of 3 or 4) in a cabin tent. Rooms in the lodge and log cabin accommodations are also available. The Forks Resort Center also features The Forks Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as its own line of handcrafted libations at its Kennebec River Brewery. Beer, refreshments and specialty artisans will also be located at the festival site.

Northern Outdoors Forks Resort Center is located in Maines western mountains, 18 miles north of Bingham on Route 201. It sits surrounded by thousands of acres of tall forest along the banks of the Kennebec River.
Drive time is approximately four hours from either Boston or Montreal. The setting is pure wilderness so it is suggested that drivers keep a sharplookout for moose along the way.
