IGNORING HOLLYWOOD RULES DIDN'T HURT

Longtime Hollywood film music pro, Janet Fisher, is finding surprising success by ignoring a few of the primary Tinseltown rules. She keeps her company projects open to unknowns, limits her work to what's "fun," and creates crazy little pieces of product that are also perfect for pitching to her industry.

July 8, 2003 (PRWEB) July 7, 2003 -- Goodnight Kiss Music, a twenty-year old entertainment company in Hollywood, is finding that "small pieces of art," among works submitted by talented websurfers, has been a boon for the company.

"It can be odd, mixing the new web musicians and artists with the old real-world approach, but it's working for us," states Janet Fisher, the company's owner.

A 'Music Horror Stories' book, a compelling CD project about drug and alcohol addiction, a songwriter icon's original renditions of classic pop-jazz songs -- these are among the eclectic things that have been produced by Goodnight Kiss. The projects are also consistently pitched for television and Film uses, regularly donated and discounted to charity causes, and all have received exceptional reviews of praise from critics and consumers.

"We have a long history of providing songs to Film and TV, and I always want to expose our catalog there, but like much of the work in our industry, it can be feast or famine. I honestly didn't realize that these small pieces of art would actually suppliment our royalty income between quarters. I am exceedingly proud of every project we've created. Really, every one of them," says Fisher with conviction.

"Plus some of our projects are community-focused, like our "Addiction: Highs & Lows" CD, or our women's get-away-from-welfare handbook with CD, "Flying High With Broken Wings. These projects are very self-satisfying, and contribute to all in their mere existance."

The letters and testimonials at the site and newsletter archives support the claim that the company keeps its promises. It works like this. The request for specific material is posted in the company e-zine. If the reader has the right song, story, photo, or whatever might be asked for, they submit it. If selected, it is offered a limited term agreement to pursue earnings for the submittor and the company. The e-zine, the submission process, the manufacturing, et. al are free to the creator-submittor.

Fisher, who has longtime respectable publishing and production credits, says her ideal is for the company to make money from the art, not from the creators of the art.
