Opening Art Exhibit features the photography of Ray Ellis
The Red Door Gallery at The Creativity Center hosts Final Friday Art Opening Exhibit.
Clayton, NC - July 25, 2003 - Red Door Gallery hosts a Final Friday event at 6PM, Friday July 25th, 2003. The featured artist for July is photographer Ray Ellis.
For over 20 years, Ray Ellis' passion for still photography and the American wilderness has been a driving force behind his work. "Nature's beauty is immense, but unfortunately some of the most beautiful moments slip away before the world takes notice. Those are the moments I want to share." In the summer of 2002, Ray spent 9 weeks in the western United States, photographing the beauty of the southwestern desert and Rocky Mountains. That time yielded his current show of prints including images from Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Grand Tetons, Arches and others.
Ray has a successful freelance career in production working as a Director on commercials, films, and videos. In late 2002, he and his wife Susan formed Footpath Pictures, Inc, a documentary production company that focuses on the work of non-profits. "In all of my work, I am interested in telling the stories that might otherwise be overlooked. Whether these are tales of the great American wilderness or of a mother struggling to find decent housing for her family, my hope is that I can explore every subject matter in a way that resonates with those who witness them. " Ray shoots on both 6x7 Medium Format and 35mm film.
The Red Door Gallery also features the extraordinary work of gallery artists Penny Evans, Kirk Adam, Keiko Genka, and Art Quilter Valarie Jean Bailey.
The gallery is tucked away in the heart of downtown Clayton at 190 Clayton Commerce Center. For directions, more information on the exhibit, or information about any of our wonderful artists, please call Lise Richards or Cheryl McCardle at 919.553.8451 or visit us online.
